This is lifted from a breeder's website - can anyone tell what's wrong with it???

"Yes, all of our dogs are hip scored and eye tested. In addition, our black Labradors are elbow scored, as this can be even more important than hip scoring in the blacks."

I'm O.K then, as my dog - who's the father of my last litter - is yellow and hasn't been elbow scored Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

No seriously: What a load of rubbish! why should the black labs have more problems with bad elbows than yellows and chocolates? even more worrying that the breed seems to believe it himself Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Confused Confused Confused

Sad what with the myth that blacks are more aggressive and now this suggesting they are more prone to health problems I feel our poor black labs are getting quite a bad rep Sad Evil or Very Mad

How can people take the time and energy to breed, set up a website but not bother to research the breed properly?.
Don't they realise that to Jo Public they are in a position of responsibility - what they say is often taken as gospel by many.

I saw that as well and was somewhat bemused, think it someone who asked if we thought the pups this person produces would be ok, think most of us (if not all) said walk away!

Sadly, on the same site, Hereditary Cataracts is missing from the list of eye diseases. Whether by accident or not, this is a major breed problem and, as the main reason for fails under the BVA certificate scheme, it should be on the list. Rolling Eyes

Are they located in East Anglia by any chance? The Newmarket testing centre only seem to use the European eye certificate NOT the BVA/KC one and HC is not listed, hence some canny tricksters using it deliberately BECAUSE of that and still saying 'clear eye certificate'....

It seems to be the only place that does promote the European one. Several bitches we've had here from suffolk, norfolk and essex have come with that one not realising I can't accept it.

And here's me thinking that it was the rust in the chocolate labs that caused the colour and problems Laughing

Has anyone set them straight?
