Obviously not Sad
With 5+ labs though and having chosen to breed I really would have hoped the OP had done a little bit of reading ad research into the breed.

I had never heard of this dog lovers thing. Basically it sounds like its one more step down from the breeders who put ads in the papers selling KC reg pups (that have often had no healthchecks but KC reg implies good pup to the ignorant buyer).
Another situation where the mass public can be mislead, i suppose the paper ad just says registered pups?

The OP had obviouslt been mislead him/her self Sad

I have seen adverts stating KC reg when it turns out to be DLRC reg. Many people simply don't know the difference, and many sellers do use that to their benefit.

It is always a case of 'buyer beware' - that's exactly why the dog buying public needs to be educated.

I'm sorry you are gutted, noone meant any harm, you are not the first on here to be duped and you won't be the last. can I ask - did you definately think that these dog lover papers meant that your puppies could be kennel club registered?

This is agenuine human question too -: Did you not think to check it out before mating your bitch?

Well I suppose the main difference now, apart from the fact obviously neither parent is hip scored or eye tested officially because they wouldn't be from unregistered parents usually, you will now be selling these pups, if you can sell them for around £200/£250 rather than, depending where you live in the country between £450 and £700. But if that doesn't matter to you then only the lack of health and the possible come backs of buyers whose puppies develop health problems threatening to take matters further might be your main worry.

I'm SO genuinely sorry you didn't find us before mating your girl not after...

Di
