I am so sorry to read of your loss - you had no choice other than to do the right thing for your best friend.
In time it DOES get easier, but it takes a while. Do not listen to any colleagues or people who think it was "just a dog" - true dog lovers know how you feel and your pain and sadnesss is normal.

So sorry to hear of you loss, like many others here I know how you feel many years ago I had to say good bye to my beautiful Dobermann and held her as she went to sleep - I still miss her. It is heartbreaking to decide to say goodbye - but it also the kindest and bravest thing we can do for our wonderful companions. Whilst time will never take away the pain of your seperation it will get easier to cope and the memories will begin to make you smile instead of cry.
