it doesn't seem huge... so you won't likely get much use out of it....

I have no clue about the kennel and run thing having never used that kind of set up.

When we got Hudson we got the size of crate we anticipated he would need as a full grown dog - 42 inces was what we were advised....in the 6 weeks he's been home.... he has gone from sitting in a corner looking teeny weeny to filling the entire width!!!!

So what is the advantage of a cage? Just wondering if we need one now. As for getting him home and to the vets what do most people do?

The advantage of a cage is varied:

1. Somewhere safe for pup to go when you leave the house for short periods, and so they dont chew your belongings

2. Somewhere for pup to sleep overnight when you cant be watching them so they dont chew your house to bits!

3. Somewhere the pup feels safe and secure that they can go to whenever the busy household gets too hectic and they want somewhere of their own to dissapear to and sleep

4. To help encourage clean toilet training habits, Pups rarely toilet where they sleep, so it helps them to become dry overnight quickly

5. As you thinking of putting pup outside i would have thought that a crate will help them realise that being shut up doesnt mean not being part of the family.

I used a crate similar to yours (its my cats lol) when we collected Banjo to bring her home in the car without things potentially getting messy, but there is no way i could have kept her in it for longer periods, its far to small.

My neighbour got their new black lab puppy yesterday and its amazing the size difference in just 2 weeks age! Her puppy is a bouncy 10 week old, mine is 12 weeks and enormous in comparison. I cant believe how much she has grown as she was no bigger than the new pup when we got her! There is no way she would even fit comfortably (let alone stand up), in the plastic crate now, so it would just be a waste of your money to buy one.

hope that helps

Most people have the new pup on their lap as they travel or use an old box............the crate you have purchased would probably be ok for that and the 1st visit to the vets etc if you are travelling alone, but not for keeping it in and using as a proper crate
