Hello and welcome, im sure you will enjoy labrador forum. I have just changed Bailey over from Pedigree chum complete, as like yourself i had heard that its not the "best" so to speak.
Thanks to everyone posting, I really appreciate it!
I will have to look at the information again to see if it says that he has been on any other food.
I won't worry about the water now then now i know its ok.
I think I might try the chicken and rice to see if it gets any better - how much should I feed him and how many times a day? Should I do this until his poo is solid?
I would say he's probably got the runs because you've changed his food completely and he's in a totally new environment, it could even be the change of water causing it.
I would phone the breeder if you don't know which food he was on but its best to keep him on the food he's use to and then change him over slowly onto whichever food you choose.
At 10 weeks, Alfie was still on 4 small meals a day, i added hot water to the kibble to make it smell nice but i think he went down to 3 meals at around 12 weeks old.
I would second giving the breeder a ring - they'll be able to tell you what food and how much he was on, and hopefully you can start to get his tummy settled again.
