Hi everyone. I have just rescued a seven week old puppy. Dad was a Black Lab and Mum was half black lab half ????. Enzo, as he is now known looks just like a Black Lab except for a white blaze. I will post photos when I can figure out how that goes
As with all new mums i'm obsessed with jobbies i was exactly the same when my son was born. Enzo's number 2s are very loose. I have read on the forum that this may be due to over feeding. After checking various sources he's on 200g split over 4 feeds. Does this sound about right Apart from this he is an absolute dream boat - sleeping at night with no howling or crying and all wee wees went on the paper today (told you I'm obsessed by toilet habits )
Hi and welcome to LF , Enzo's loose poo's could be down to a different variety of food you are feeding him than what he was used to. 200g split over 4 meals sounds ok to me it just may take him a week or so to get used to the food you are feeeding.
Keep an eye on him as they can get dehydrated very quickly make sure he is drinking water , if your worried then a vet check up may be best.
As Lorri-Ann says it could just be down to a change of food. Where did you get Enzo from and do you know what they were feeding him? Make sure he's drinking plenty.
I would set up a vet appointment just to get him checked over and have his first vaccination.
As others have said, it may be the change of food that he is now on, or even the brand of food all together. It took us over 10 different brands of food to find one that suited Annie.
Has he recently been wormed or had his first vacs, as these too have made any loose in the past.
It might be worth taking him off the dog food, and giving him chicken and rice/egg and rice/fish and rice until his tummy is settled and then slowly introduce the dried food again, mixing it in with the rice and chicken and slowly fading out the chick & rice completely.
Make sure that he is drinking water, and I would take him to the vets if it does not improve quickily.
edited to say; you need to subscribe to LF before you can post pictures I think. Def worth it. You will soon become very addicted to it.
Thanks to you all for making us feel so welcome. The shelter was feeding him on Bakers so I have been mixing that in with JWB. There is always plenty of water available. First trip to the vets on Wednesday morning for a once over, worming and jabs.
