I can`t believe the RSPCA not scanning every dog that comes through them!!!, whats the point in using identity for your pet when no one will bother to check?

Hi Mary, Sarah & Kay,
Thanks for signing up and replying to the previous email, that's great.
As we need more and more volunteers to sign up, we've added a fresh thread to see if we can reach more members.
Spread the word everyone - every little bit of your help counts.
Thanks everyone,
Julie

I agree, but spreading the word about those won`t be easy either, vets want you to m/chip cos thats where their money comes from.
Like most things, its education, that lady thought she had her puppy protected only to learn she was`nt, and basically being told "Tough Sh*t", nothing we can do.

I am stunned to hear that the RSPCA don't scan dogs, what exactly is the point of chipping and the big drives that councils have. No time? How long does it take to scan a dog and check the register?
This is seriously worrying, particularly as I am led to understand (locally at least - unsure if it is common practice across the UK) that all dogs at our local centre are neutered, irrespective of whether it is a 10 year old dog or an 8 week old pup. While I can possibly understand the logic of doing this over time, there has to be some fail-safes in place for checking ownership
Confused
Sue
