Hi All

OH and I have just noticed that Kimmy has a lump inside his mouth. Its on the roof of this mouth just behind his front teeth and its very hard.....it is normal...only we've never noticed it before. Are we worrying about something that is normal or is it something we should be worried about.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

All dogs have vey ridged roofs to their mouths - helps the food go around (apparently). But if there's a very different lump shape there either there's been a sore bit therefore swellig, or there's a problem. I'd suggest getting it checked out. But then someone with a lot more experience will no doubt be along in a minute.....

Hope everything settles down in a day or two. Confused

I wouldn't expect to find a lump here - I would get it checked out by your vet just to be on the safe side.

Thanks Dot and Nikki. We were of the same minds and that as soon as our vets are open on Tuesday I think a visit to them is on the cards. Its not stopping him from eating and he doesnt mind us looking at it and touching it but as you both say its not normal to be there.

Thank you once again.

Ann

You're very welcome! Very Happy Let us know how you get on at the vets. I'm off to the vets also on Tuesday as one of my dogs has a nasty lump below her ear!

Shani - yes he does and OH said a little while ago that he wondered if something he's eaten has gone straight into the roof of his mouth and that maybe it could be still in there although we cant see it - but he is definitely a lab that likes to chew on sticks, stones, etc.

Hi All

Well we went to vets this morning and the Vet said that all dogs have a this lump there in there mouth but its possible that Kimmy has just caught it with something. He said that theres was nothing to worry about just to keep an eye on it. To go back to him if its gets bigger, and if it did get bigger that they would take him in and either do a small op to remove part of it or take it all away.

Hopefully that wont be the case, so we will have to just keep an eye on it and see what happens. Kimmy must be in good health for Tails of Achievement on Saturday.

Thanks again for all your advice.

Ann, Steve, Steph and Kimmy

So glad to hear there is nothing to worry about! Hopefully Kimmy has just caught it on something and it will go down by itself.

Good luck for Tails of Achievement on Saturday! Laughing
