When I got home from collecting Alfie, OH went out as he had a driving lesson booked. I introduced new pup to Daisy and Leo. Leo was really quite and I thought he was sulking. I offered him treats and he refused and he just lay there looking sad.

When OH came home I said to him I thought Leo was sulking because of pup and he said Leo hasn't been right all day - even refusing ham!!

I've just been in the garden with him now, he tried to do a poo and what little bits that came out were really really runny.

He's hardly moving, won't eat anything at all and looks in pain when he's trying to stand up. No waggy tails what-so-ever.

I'm really worried, he's never been like this before. Any ideas?

Thanks

Vicki

Oh dear poor Leo Sad I'm sure the symptoms will mean something to more expert people but could he have swallowed something he shouldn't have maybe? I know if it was my dog I'd be in a right panic and be ringing the vets instead of trying to guess but you know your dog best. I suppose err on the side of caution and maybe keep puppy seperate until you know what it is if it's possible. Have you done a thread about picking puppy up? Last one I saw you were miffed because the breeder wasn't going to be there. Take care xx

Oh Heck what a predicament......Firstly with Leo I would see what he is like in the morning...if he is still off his food and/or squitty I would take him to the vets, as he could have a blockage or a bug.

Secondly I would try to keep the pup away from him as much as humanly possible just incase it is a bug you're dealing with.....If the pup shows any signs of being ill then get that to the vet ASAP, as it is so young.

Fingers crossed Leo will feel better in the morning and it won't have been a bug at all.

I have been thinking of ringing the vets but I know what they'll say - bring him down if you are worried and we'll take a look. That'll be the emergency vet at £90 before they even look at him. Of course if he needs it then I'll pay every penny but if it's not needed then obviously it would just be me panicking.

Felt his tummy and he didn't complain at all.

Yes he could have possibly eaten something he shouldn't have, but nothing I'm aware of.

Could he have eaten something he shouldn't Vicki? From what you say, I would give the emergency vet a ring now to be on the safe side.

Oh dear Sad

As Jules has said I would try and keep pup away as much as poss cos if it is a bug pups can dehydrate very quickly if they start with vomiting or diarrhoea Sad

Get well soon Leo xx

Hard to know which way to go, if he hasn`t been like this before I`d be inclined to call the vets and possibly take him down there, for peace of mind as much as anything else.

I`d also keep Leo and Alfie apart til you know what Alfie`s problem may be.

Leo just starting heaving. I managed to get him out into the garden but then nothing seemed to come up. Now he is just laying down outside the back door.

Off to find number for emergency vets. Something doesn't seem right at all.

Thanks

Vicki
