  |
|
Hi,
I hoped my first post would be on the introductions page!
I picked Willow up last week and within 24 hours she was suffering from very loose and bloody stools. Following a visit to the vet (and some searches on the forums here - thank you to everyone who used the words blood and poo in their posts - it was reassuring that we weren't alone and this was not uncommon) we took her off the food that the breeder had supplied (Purina) and put her onto chicken and rice. This seemed to clear it up until we added a very small amount of her food back in when the blood returned with a vengeance. She's now back on chicken and rice and the poos seem to be returning to normal.
After another couple of searches we have decided to try to introduce a different sort of food (I can get JWB locally) to see if that's ok.
The vet mentioned colitis (I think that's how you spell it) - is this a passing thing or are she likely to get relapses of this?
We've also been told by a number of people when we're out that she seems too quiet and calm (can this ever be a bad thing?) although when she's at home she's a lot more confident and bouncy. Should I be worried about this? The picture below is in one of her very laid back moments!
Thanks to all the people who have posted on here - it's helped me no end when I thought we might have a serious problem.
Mike and Willow (and Kate and Lily and Sam)
PS does anyone know how to get blood and poo stains out of a cream carpet!

Live yogurt in her food will help. And as for the stains, Simple Solution is fab for getting out stains. You can get it almost anywhere.
Welcome to LF anyway, and hope little Daisy gets well soon!

Willow's a little beauty!
Our Alfie had intermittent diahorea when he first came to us, with a bit of blood in it. We had to put him on chicken and rice too. Turned out he had a mild campylobacter infection, which cleared up after a week or so. A friend of mine thought Alfie seemed a bit too quiet for a 7 week old puppy too, but I guess if all is not right in the tummy department it's understandable.
It's so worrying when they are not 100% when you first bring them home and they are so tiny. Hope all is normal soon.
Cream carpet....dog.....good luck....
