Ok, not about a lab but my little Sammie (terrier x) has a real nasty looking lump that is just below her ear. I have only just discovered it and am very worried as I really don't like the look of it!

Obviously I will be taking little Sam to the vets. Here are some pics of the offending lump - what do you think, I really am worried its something nasty!

Sorry about the massive pics - don't know why they have come out so big!

Lump dosen't look too good does it! I'm so worried!

Oooo Nikki, my Tara had something just like that suddenly come up on her elbow. It looked really angry for a couple of weeks.

I didn't rush her to the vets, as it wasn't bothering her and at her age I didn't want her to have another GA unless absolutely necessary.....anyway one day it went black overnight and the next day it dropped off Shocked and it hasn't grown back.

I would just keep an eye on it for a while, to see what it does. Obviously if it is painful or keeps growing rapidly, then the vet should see it, but try not to panic too much about it (although I know I did a fair bit of worrying about Taras lump Rolling Eyes ) so many lumps and bumps are benign anyway. Hopefully it'll drop off all by itself, like Taras did.

Too big and not the right shape for a tick Shani, tho I did think that when the thread title mentioned lump Confused

How old is Sammie Nikki?, as they get older they get things like cysts and thats what it looks like to me, but obviously I`m no expert and you`d need a vets advice really to be sure, if it is a cycst though there`s nothing to worry about, but there`s always the possibility Sammie may scratch it and make it bleed.

My Mum's collie had something similar, it was a benign cyst. They removed it so that she wouldn't tear it while scratching or anything and it has never come back.
Fingers crossed that it's nothing too serious. Be well Sammie.

Thanks everyone.

I will keep an eye on it and see what happens. Sammie is 9 now and I don't really want to put her through a GA, unless of course its absolutely necessary.

I'm really not happy with Sam's lump - it seems to have got bigger since my last post and she dosen't seem quite herself today. Off to the vets in the morning to get her checked out.

Wish us luck! Rolling Eyes
