(Computer/internet access on a go slow again, so its taking me ages to get anything on here. Mad )

If you could see BJ, you would easily take him for 10 years, maybe even older. In the past year he seems to have aged very much. He started to get grey and grizzled round the face when he was just under 2, so that doesn't help. Apart from that though, his head carriage is very low, he often moves ponderously, and just looks like an old dog. He is 6 and a half.

The fact that he's been 4 months without a fit, together with my worry that he is ageing prematurely, is what has prompted me to try the reduction in the meds.

I know the Kbr is less harmful than phenobarb in most ways, but nevertheless, ANY drug has side effects. The last blood test result showed that the levels were on the high side of acceptable. I am trying to get a balance between preventing the seizures as far as possible, and avoiding damages from the meds.

I do not expect to ever be able to remove meds entirely, that would be too much like a miracle, and I certainly would not just stop giving them.

Finally, my apologies for rattling on, but its only on here that I can 'tell it like it is'. Thanks for your support everyone, and as always John, for wise words and making me think.
