Well, I knew it had to happen! I've always had a feeling that under the 'Little Miss Laura Ashley' appearance of Our Ida, lies a will of steel! Infact I've told a few people that she reminds me in an eery way of Margaret Thatcher (and there's me a pink and fluffy Lib Dem!) and today I saw the iron-lady in a mega strop
We were out walking with all the gang in a wood where we seldom see other dogs. Ahead of us we spot a guy coming towards us with 2 dogs-he stops and puts them on leads so I call Ida and Co to me and put leads on them. Ida can't resist doing a little mini-charge towards them and calling them a few rude names before having her lead clipped on - I give her a 'look' and she gives me a harder 'look' back
The chap stands to one side of the path and we pass. His dogs shout some rude name at the Gang. Flo yells some ruder words back and Ida decides that this is all rather jolly fun and does a bit of taunting too. I am displeased and tell Flo and Ida so. Ida says she doesn't care, so there!
I let the other dogs off the lead to walk on with Dave as I feel that Ida and I need to have a little word. Dave walks on with the Gang and Ida stays back with me on the lead. Ida is VERY DISPLEASED
I suggest to Ida that she might like to walk nicely to heel for a short distance whilst I explain to her a little about the roles of 'dog and mistress'. Ida uses some strong Wylanbriar words of displeasure at my unreasonableness, rears up on her hind legs and screams....loudly...and then louder still. I do my best to look unimpressed at this unseemly behaviour. Ida is on a roll now and is vowing that NEVER AGAIN in her whole life will she EVER agree to walk beside such an unreasonable, mean, wicked woman as me. We reach a stalemate I wont move until Ida stops her tantrum and walks to heel, and Ida is far too cross at being kept back from her mates to even begin negotiations.
All in all, it takes us 15 minutes to walk less than 50 yards to where Dave and the Gang are waiting patiently round the corner from us. Ida is furious I feel exhausted
On the way back she was an angel and did some lovely heelwork both on and off lead, but cor blimey.....I've seen a side of her when she is crossed!!!!
I do love my stroppy little mare of a pup! I'm still not convinced who is training who here as she has a rather higher IQ than me and far more determination!
