we also live in a quiet area there are only 12 of us in our cul-de-sac and we are surrounded by farmers fields and woods, there is one B road nearby which can be busy at peak times so if we are going that way zak would definatly need a lead on, even though he walks to heel i wouldnt trust what might happen if he saw another dog for instance, i think it is safe enough to take the collar off whilst at home but to put it on for trips out, thanx for all your comments
