If you have blacks and chocs in a litter - you should be able to clearly distinguish between when they are all together - some blacks do appear to have a chocolate 'tinge' to their coats - this is, I believe, an indication of a good coat.

Hally's pups are now just over 5 weeks, and the blacks have a chocolate tinge from certain angles and lights - but when lined up against the chocolates, there is clearly no doubt of which are chocolate and which black Very Happy

Some piccies would be nice Very Happy

What colour are the parents? And if you happen to know, what colour are any of the grandparents?

It should not be that hard to tell your puppies apart EVEN if they are really dark chocolate. By day 5, if you have a brown pup in there you will know about it. Was one parent chocolate?

Ooo Just had a thought.....Would a pup with Bolo marks on it's feet have paler pads and claws, even if it was black????

Although how obvious would the Bolo marks be at this young age???

Di, have you ever seen a black pup with anything other than black pads and claws???
