wave I remember some time ago that someone was looking for a dog ramp that didnt cost the earth - well I just found this one ramp for £39.95 and folds up. Thanks to shirley for pointing this out (see below) but make sure you check out the weigh capacity before buying - may only suit weeny labs Razz

Thought I would post this as someone is bound to be looking for one one day Wink

Hiya Vicky,

I'm looking for one, though not desperately. There is one in the Argos catalogue this time. It is more expensive than that one, but says up to 40kgs. That one says 66lb, which is roughly 30+kgs, so not likely to bear the weight of most people's labs. I only have one under 30kgs, and she is notably small. Queen is my biggest at about 36kgs, and she's not exactly fat although her saggy boobs probably weigh a good few pounds.

I wonder whether that ad could be construed as misleading, because a GR is usually bigger than a lab at adulthood, isn't it? Maybe it's only a pup, but I wouldn't think they'd want you to assume that. They want to flog their goods.

You know what Vicky, I was going to look for ramps today Shocked .

Tara has been a bit hit and miss getting into the car lately, somedays she has enough oomph and others she doesn't and I have to help her. The only thing is she will not let me pick her up, she screams like a girlie and always has done, so I have to try timing a lift and shove tecnique as she jumps....But yesterday she didn't want to wait until the boot was fully open and leapt before I was ready, resulting in her missing with her back feet completely, landing on her bum and doing a very undignified backward roll in the carpark. Sad

So I think the time has come where we need a ramp...although I can't help but wonder if the stuborn old baggage will use it. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Ooo I didn't notice the weight thing...although I might get away with it with Tara as she is just under 30 kgs.

We brought a ramp for Pudsey, its great it has a none slip grip and flats down three ways so fits in any car boot, it will take a very large dog, and was only £60 plus P and P...they only problem with it is Puds won't use the damn thing!!! Shocked Rolling Eyes Laughing

Oh Den, I think I've just bought the same as you have for Puds. I decided to go for a ramp that took more weight (well you never know what sort of dogs I'll end up with Wink ).....I just hope that Tara will use it, as she is a stubborn baggage at the best of times, even more so now she is in her old age. Oh that was my plan too Den Confused ...I was going to leave it on the floor in the living room for a few days (I bet there'll be some stubbed toes and blue air, mind Laughing ) and try to get her and the others to walk on it...I just hope it doesn't move, as none of them like movement under their paws. Rolling Eyes

Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained, as the saying goes. Wink

If this doesn't work I might be looking at inventing the first Self Raising Dog Platform. Laughing Laughing

Well the ramp arrived lunchtime amid much doggy excitement. Very Happy

First impressions is it's huge and really quite heavy...but saying that once out of the box and extended, I could see it's well made and if it was any shorter it would have been too steep.

Anyway we had a little practise on the floor...Mojo obviously having to go first Rolling Eyes Laughing and Oyster avoiding it like the plague.....but Tara was ok when I showed her a nice treat. We did a few rounds on the floor, then I put it up on the sofa and walked Tara up the ramp...not too bad....so I went the whole hog and put it against the back of the car and walked her into the boot, which she did fine...YAY. Very Happy Very Happy

I think it has arrived just in time, as she has had a couple of nasty falls this week....once trying to get in the back of the car before I had a chance to help her in...and this morning she went to go upstairs but the back legs just didn't cooperate and she landed heavily on her bum again. Sad

Poor old girl....maybe I'll be looking at a Stanna stairlift too...or else we'll all have to move to a Bungalow, just for Tara. Wink
