I donĄt have any advice re the back pack etc but as reagrds different houses/places etc. When I went to the UK to pick up Joe at 11 weeks, I had to wait another 4 weeks for his rabies vaccination to be acceptable to import him back to Spain.

With our trusty crate, lots of poo bags and our sack of Burns Mini bites, I thik we stayed in 7 house and 2 hotels during that 4 week period. Joe had his own bedding, bowls etc and he loved it. I took plenty of Simple solution and was VERY vigilante in making him go outside to pee and poo at regular intervals.

He is happy and outgoing and really enjoyed his 'holidays' ......It was all a learning experience for him and has given him the confidence to settle in strange places. If you are renting a cottage ' Go for it!'.

Do you cycle? a friend of mine used a childs trailer attatched to the back of her bike for taking her pup out and about while she was still restricted to little walks. it meant she could excercise her other hounds, without tiring her puppy. She used a car seat harness to keep her pooch secure so he couldnt jump out or injur himself and it seemed to work a treat!

i have one similar to this that i carry my kids in when were out cycling and its great fun. Ihad never thought about putting the pup in it though until my friend visited, but as i dont drive and OH works all day it may be another way for me to visit the vets for her next set of jabs without resorting to a taxi!.

It seems i was mistaken in that its a new idea! the peeps from the states have one just for dogs!

maybe worth considering?

oh and BTW i am soooo jealous! i love the lakes and the dales! (although i will admit the yorkshire dales is my most favourite place in the world!). have fun! x

Thanks, Susana, I'll definitely be packing more stuff for Ripley than for me! Sounds like your experience had a very satisfying result!

Bluecow, that's a great tip, I'd never have thought of that, will pass it on to OH (though my son may try & share it with Ripley). We're not taking our own bikes but may look into hiring them. it seems like a great idea, can't believe it hasn't been marketed here yet.

Funnily enough the Yorkshire Dales are my favourite too, we go there a lot as I'm originally from Yorkshire & pine if too long goes by without seeing a dry stone wall!

Couldnt have said it better myself! i too am from yorkshire and the dales are my "sould food". i just love the isolation and remoteness i feel when i am there, and knowing there is a good pub somewhere nearby to warm me after a long walk on the hills is just wonderful. i can never express the wonderful feeling i get walking alone accross Coverdale, and i cant wait to take banjo with me next time!

I feel a resounding version of "On Ilkley Moor Baht 'At" coming on....but I'd probably scare Ripley! Coverdale is beautiful, but I have a fondness for Nidderdale as it's where my forefathers come from, while my OH likes Wharfedale and Wensleydale for the fishing, oooh there's so much choice!

Where are you? I have a light fabric travel crate that I don't use anymore as Genie is 20 weeks old now... I live in North London. You can have it... all the best. Lisa

Wow, that would be fantastic! I'd love to have it, I'm in SW London. It would really help as we've been searching for a travel crate to fit our car and haven't found one. Thank you!
