Is there confirmation yet as to where the horses will be fenced in where the dog walking field is? Only ask as my Doobs is scared stiff of horses and I would hate it if he couldnt go on this field.
Fair Question, ok confirmation on whether the horses will be fenced in couldn't be got until a week before the event - so hopefully we will be able to confirm either way in the next couple of days.
What i can say is there are two outcomes ......
1. Horses will not be fenced in at all and will be mooching around the field with out a care in the world.
2. Horses will be fenced in on the side of the field next to the road.
Now we were told the horses are friendly and are used to dogs being in there. That said the owners of the site did say they thought it best to fence them in given the amount of dogs that will be there and will try and sort this with the owners of the horses.
As regards Doobs, what i can say is the field is huge and if the horses are fenced in then there is no reason to go near them and you will still have plenty of space to exercise him in the same field without him turning to jelly
I know i haven't really answered your question if you keep an eye on this thread and as soon as i have confirmation either way i will post here
The road i mentioned isn't a main road - it is the one mile lane belonging to Lickhill manor - so single lane, with speed bumps so no speeding vehicles to worry about......
Secondly the exercise field is fenced in on 3 out of 4 sides - the side with no fence being the one that is alongside the river ( as stated on another thread somewhere) Also this field is MASSIVE - i am talking acres
I can't answer that one honestly- we went back in February and it was running quite fast then and was obviously high and wide
With all the rain that there has been i couldn't tell you i am afraid although other things to bear in mind with labbies in the river - is that they have fishing rights and there will probably be men folk (and women too ) fishing so be aware of hooks etc. maybe walk up the river a little so said fisher people and labs keep apart
As said on another thread - allowing your dogs to swim in the river is completely at the owners risk and just be prepared to jump in if needed
On a personal note, and this is only my feeling, with all the rain and flooding and not knowing what has been washed into the river i will certainly be maybe a touch wary of letting my boys in - don't want them having dicky tummies
Well, if its any help, our river was really dangerous - fast with strong undercurrents. But today we went ther to have a look - beautiful - lovely and calm. So if ours is back to normal, the one at Lickhill maybe ok too
