i know what you are saying, what if you never use it?
However,Archie is two and we have just added up that we have had vet fees totalling £2100.00 half for his inflammatory bowel disease and half for his skin allergy which can be severe-sores on his body and severe itching.
We are currently using a new drug PHYTOPICA which is to replace a steroid he takes for both conditions it is £70 pounds a month,on top of that his antihistimines are £15 pounds a month. We wish that we had continued the kennel club insurance and several friends have upped theirs to £25 a month as there is no limit to claims.
We are very concerned that in 5 years time our insurance will run out and we will have to find a hundred pounds a month ourselves, which of course i will do anything for Archie.
Many people here have spent thousands on hip problems and surgery costing £7000 or more,i think it is the chance you take.We are with sainsburys and they pay £6000 per condition for £13.00 a month, when i started that insurance it was £10 pounds a month.
Hope it all works out for you
Jackie and Archie

My vet ONLY deals with Pet Plan direct (I'm with Direct Line) but my vet let the bill stand until the insurers paid out.
The specialist we used doesn't deal with ANY insurer direct.
It's one of those questions that should be asked from the outset of owning and insuring a dog but usually isn't.

When we initially took out insurance it was with a "probably not worth it but better safe than sorry attitude". Two years on with Marks and Spencers, I now have 3 dogs and a cat insured with them.. The amount they've paid out for one of my dogs is a hell of a lot more than I've paid for all insurance policies put together!!
My GR has spent £3,000 on his policy (this year!) already for x-rays, tests, and hydrotherapy and M&S have confirmed they'll pay out for his hip replacement in a few weeks time. I think we'd have had to make some VERY difficult decisions if it hadn't been for his insurance cover.
They also deal with our vets directly, which is a huge plus point for me!!
