Hi, don't worry that's a typical puppy thing to do and all I can say is take advantage of it because it won't be long until he's under your feet 24/7 LOL.

puppies are like kids, they are all different. When I was a kid we had a puppy who woke up when she was about 8 months old, she was always sleeping beofre that. Wicca on the other hand doesn't believe in sleep. I can only presume she does actually snooze when I am out. When I'm home she seems to think any time resting is time wasted. Think yourself lucky!!!!
If he seems fine and is zooming about when he is awake then I wouldn't worry. If he is sluggish and dozy when awake then it might be worth getting him checked out at the vet. So much of his energy is going into growing just now. He might go through a few weeks of this then hit a Wicca phase where he never sleeps.

Hi, there i agree with the last post, take advantage of it, i have a ten week old pup called Bailey, and he could not be more different, whilst he still needs his sleep, im suprised that he does not want more, and perhaps less play. LOL. Smile

Charlie (who has recently passed), slept a good 20 out of 24 hours as a pup - and, if it is any consolation, he was so laid back he was in danger of falling over LOL - Very, very placid dog.

Marley, who is now 15 weeks old is so much the opposite. He is a very light sleeper and as soon as he hears a noise his head pops up.

Very difficult with six of us here, so we have to take him upstairs with me to get some rest. He is very heavy though, at 15 weeks he weighs in at 18 KG yet he is quite slender.

He has never slept much at all, we are lucky if he sleeps an hour in a day - at night time he goes from around 11 pm till about 7 to 8.30am, but this has only been the past week, before that he was wide awake at 5.30am!

Looks like you will have a laid back doggie there - and, as others have said, enjoy while it lasts Very Happy

Thanks for all your replies and im just so glad your all so patient with us new puppy owners lol Laughing

Umm one other thing was that we have started putting him in the kitchen to sleep (not quite fully understanding the crate thing yet) he goes out for a wee and then bed at 11 ish .. he cries for 10 or so minutes and then this morning he was crying at 3am .. so we went down to let him out and he had pooed on his paper .. could he have been crying cos he was desperate for the loo ?
we went back to bed about 15 mins later and he spent another 10 mins crying and then woke when my OH was up for work at 6.30 ish

with age do they have the ability like toddlers to hold it more and more ?
and is this nighttime pattern normal ?
Confused
