Hello
My pup Stanley is 16 weeks and I've been visiting this forum since I first got him at 8 weeks. The advice and tips I have found here have been an absolute godsend so I thought it was about time I de-lurked and made my presence known
Anyway, after a life-time (well 25 years) of owning German Shepherds, Stanley is my first experience of a Labrador and he is an absolute delight. He's just finished his eight week beginners training course and we rounded that off last week with a free "fun doggie evening", which consisted of some games and agility (light agility for the pups obviously; some weaving, tunnels etc), and he took to it like a duck to water. One of the trainers asked whether Stanley had done any agility before as he was such a natural, but it was his very first time - I was quite proud
Stanley has been crate trained from day one and absolutely loves it - it really has become his little den. This is the first time I have used a crate with a pup and I admit I was a little dubious at first, but now I would be the first person to recommend them to anyone who is thinking of getting a puppy, it makes everything so much easier and stress free. A typical Lab, Stanley loves food, all food, especially fruit and veg; give him a carrot and he'll spend ages happily tossing it into the air before turning the living room carpet into a mass of carrot crumbs! I took him for a little walk in the park yesterday and he managed to dive into a rather murky and smelly pond He was straight in the shower when he got home!
My name is Triona and I hail from north London - I've got a 12 year old cat and three cockateils. I lost my last German Shepherd back in January and I think my cat had got used to the idea that the house was now a dog free zone, so was quite outraged when Stanley appeared in June Actually, my cat loves dogs, he's still somewhat unsure of Stanley and is a real wind-up merchant, but I'm sure in time they will be great mates.
Anyway, enough rambling, here is Stanley:
