This may sound like a daft question, but do girl pups hump things when they may be coming into season?
Holly has only just turned 5 months so really shouldn't be coming into season yet but she has taken to humping her seal cuddle toy. We don't draw attention to her, but it just seems odd.
5 months is early, but is possible for a first season. Amy and Anna ware just 6 months, although Amy now cycles every 5.5 months. But the hormones start to rise well before the season actually starts.
So yes, it's possible that she is on the point of coming into season, but it's more likely that she just feels like humping!
Wicca has humped her cuddly rhino since she was 8 weeks old. She is doing it less lately I think because she is getting longer walks now. I think with her it was an excess of energy!
hehe Ruby has a 'special' relationship with soft toys - she has one that is as big as her and regularly 'liases' with it - very funny when she is in the garden pmsl. We just take the toys away and put them away and no more humping - she was really humpy whilst in season though
I'm glad this question has come up as Pepper has been humping cuddly toy 'squeak squeak' for a couple of months now (and Pepper is only 4 1/2 months), although it seems to be becoming more vigorous of late! It is rather funny, although I feel mean laughing. Are you supposed to distract her from doing it - or what?!
Thanks everyone for the advice, I really don't know whether you should distract them or not I just ignore it, lucky she hasn't done it when the children have been around yet as I don't know how to explain it to my 4 year old LMAO, my oldest will just kill himself laughing.
Just to add my OH keeps trying to explain to her thats she's a female not a male LMAO, it's quite comical.
Personally I do distract Jet from humping, and always have done. It is funny to watch him with his bed or a cuddly toy, but less so when it's someones leg
I feel it's better to stop them so they know it's not something they should do in polite company, We tell Jet " nice boys don't do that"
He doesn't seem to care though, perhaps he's not a nice boy.
Seriously though, I do feel it's better to distract them than to let it continue as it gets less funny as they get older, bigger and heavier.
