Almost everything started life either BEING tested on animals or includes ingredients tested on animals - its just the 'non cruelty' companies ride on the back of the fact other companies had to do the hard work and get stoned for it and they shout 'not tested on animals' Maybe THEY didn't test it, but someone did before them then they pinched it!
We wouldn't use soap, eat meat, wear shoes or take vitamins if we knew what some elements of these things!
Iams have changed and released statements posted on this forum over the years. Also the melodramatic animals rights companies making the films get off on whipping up public hysteria.

Di - You must not have seen the videos of the circumstances these dogs were kept IN THE IAMS LABRORATORIES - because, if you did, I am sure you would not be saying what you are.
The cruelty was intolerable and there for all to see on film. Totally disgusting - no frenzy about it.
As for soap - I never use it, never have done, it is bad for the skin (dries it out), for shoes I wear crocs and before that wore man made etc.
If I am aware of any product that tests on animals in an inhumane manner (Iams did their testing inhumanely, there is NO doubt about it), then I do not support the product.
I never bought Johnson's baby products for the very same reason, and I have four children, the oldest almost 20.
I would be preferred to be called a frenzied dog owner though than to spend my money on the likes of Iams - the needless suffering bordering on barbaric is not necessary.
BUT - if others want to feed Iams, I have no problems with it, because, it is each to their own, and that is why I advised "I wouldn't touch Iams," rather than demanding "You better not touch Iams..."

i'd echo what others have said... pick a brand that you feel happy with - holistic, hypo-allengenic or whatever.
i won't get into above debate other than to say i don't do food with colourings added - i.e bakers as this is for our eyes not the dogs!
make sure you can easily obtain whichever food u decide on as there will all be the odd occasion where u suddenly realise that u've run out or the normal supplier doesn't have your flavour.
i use burns and Coal is doing excellently on it. he is not thin (recent diet can prove that!), he's shiny and he's grown really well. only trouble is supply but i order direct from burns most of the time. very good.
but JWB and others are well supplied in most pet stores.

Coals coat looks amazing!
Years ago, when Charlie was young, we tried him on Bakers, he wasn't too keen on it and he put weight on with it very fast, so, after a couple of weeks we took him off it.
I agree about the colourings, I think though because we are the buyer, some manufacturers try to make it look as appealing as they can.
Bakers does look better than the brown kibble, but then again a brown choccy lab looks better than a colourful box of edible choccy's
I think with food, as with anything, if it works, use it!

I wouldn't change a food if it suited my dog. If your pup is doing well, then I would stick with it.
