I absolutely really would adise against a winter litter for every good reason. IF POSSIBLE. I find puppy calls dry up, its cold and wet every single feed four times a day, dark for three of those four, no frolicing on the patio and socialising whilst you have BBQ's and friends round. People avoiding getting a pup because of christmas. Puddles and damp and cold inviting more small infections. Can't get vet bed dry so radiators on constantly in the house with it on sopping wet.... Interfering with the shooting season.....
Can't praise late spring, summer or early autumn litters enough.
BUT if a bitch needs a winter litter, so be it!
I have another friend who always has winter litters as she says its easier to heat pups up than cool them down. That is the only advantage She is a fantastic breeder with a good rep and the last winter puppy left at 15 weeks of age as they were hard to get rid of.

Can't comment on whether any one season is better than the otherd - but having just had, what was meant to be a summer litter - can someone please tell me where the summer is / has gone
I never like winter litters nor would I buy from one to be honest, having pups when the morninggs before work and evenings when home are dark makes socialising and getting the pup out and about a nightmare, not to mention feet of snow when trying to housetrain I always buy from and mate my bitches for summer litters makes everything so much easier.
I did think maybe winter time would be a bad idea but I have asked other breeders and got differing opinions some say positive things and some negative about when to have a litter so thought if I asked on here things would be made more clear WRONG.
Although I do appreciate everyone comments it’s very frustrating as I have been planning this litter since last year and as I am breeding purely to keep something back for myself to show it will put my plans back my another year possibly more if she does not take on her next season.
When I had my litter last year I had the heat wave to contend with which was hard and now it looks like the winter (if we have one) is just has bad, I live in Lincs area so its been fairly mild for the last couple of years in the winter, BUT that could change this year with the weather being as it is at the moment.
My concern is that I wont find homes for them all when they are ready to go at 8 weeks from what is being said people prefer spring summer puppies so this is a concern and something to think about.
I have had a word with Meg and the stud dog owner that if they would produce me just one pup (Champion of cause, Black) that would be great, they have agreed but can I trust them or will they give be loads of puppies
Need to ponder some more me thinks, and be quick about it has time is running out
Should I have the litter, NO, YES ,NO YES screammmmmmmmmm
But I think if my calculations are right this would make the litter due for new homes at Christmas. I certainly wouldn't want pups that need homes at Christmas time. To be safe it really means keeping them until after Christmas and believe me however much you love them you will be pleased to see the back of them by 8 weeks . Plus it will completely disrupt your Christmas as you will be too busy feeding and clearing up pee and poo!!!!!!!
