Hello everyone, what a fab site!! I was actually looking for advice re bottom-cleaning and came across here, read some of the threads and just had to sign up!!
I'm Joy, 23, got a 4 year old human daughter - Amber - and a 4 year old Lab daughter called Ellie. She came to me as a result of a "free to good home" adverts, I had to step in cos I just don't like those ads - the poor dog could end up with anyone. Ellie came from Doncaster, she's been here 2 months now and I just can't imagine life without her. She's absolutely the loveliest, friendliest, huggiest girl!
We don't know what kind of life she's had before, but she can be really nervous at times, she smiles at you when she's scared, a sort of defence thing I think "look how I smile at you, please don't hurt me", she play fights with me, she barks at people outside, she makes us feel safe at the same time as being our teddy bear! She's got really bad separation anxiety too, she absolutely hates being left on her own - she's ripped sections of kitchen floor up, she's chewed anything she could get her paws on, she wees and poos everywhere and scratches doors! But what a welcome when you do come home - hugs, kisses, smiles and anything she can fit in her mouth at the same time as being battered with a waggy tail!
Anyway, I'm waffling on now, was only going to say hello

Hello!!! I've just registered too! Looks like the perfect place to get support and advice.
We adopted Gypsy, a 3 year old yellow lab, 3 weeks ago. She came from a loving home, but her 'parents' divorced and her 'Mum', understandably, couldn't cope with 3 children, 2 cats and a bouncy lab!
She isn't a greedy dog at all but is an absolute heifer! (36kgs!!!)
Could do with some advice on a safe amount of exercise until she gets a bit fitter. The slightest bit of exertion results in her doing a very good impression of a steam train for hours!!! But I'll have a scout round for the relevant forum for that!
