When is Izzy ever going to have her 1st season Question Confused

She is 15 months old, I know there is still time yet Rolling Eyes but do they follow suit from the Dam Question
Molly was 11.5 for her 1st season and Izzy's litter sisters have both followed this pattern with 1st seasons at 11.5 months old, Izzy's G-Dam was 13 months old...............

I did hope when Molly was in season back in May, that Izzy, being 13 months old at the time, would have come in too........

WHY are we still waiting? Is it possible that having 4 GA's and 2 ops have delayed what should come naturally Confused Confused
OR am I wrong to think that there is a pattern to these things?

No usually bitches do follow their dams, as a general overview. Or roughly in the same ballpark, especially if their litter sisters followed her, but there is always *one*. The ops may have set her back, but I don't think anything is proven on GA affecting hormone levels one way or the other at the moment...

Chances are she will come in just after her mothers next season.... sadly though often late girls gop longer between seasons, so you could have a 9 or 10 month 'cycler' on your hands which is fine except when you want to mate them Wink

Thanks Di, I did *think* she should follow her mum..........so if she comes in on Molly's next season, that'll mean 2 girls in season over Christmas Shocked lovely Laughing (not!)

and it was my next thought that maybe it will happen on Molly's next season

Do you know, something just occured to me and that is that it should be perfectly possible for a bitch to inherit her cycles from either parent... *if* they prove to be inherited which they so often do seem to be. SO obviously she can't inherit them as such from Angus, but maybe ask Eileen when Angus's mum had her first season... it might throw something interesting up you never know....

Xena didn't have her first season until she was nearly 16 months, and comes in season every nine months.

One of Talla's daughters from her first litter came in season at 9 months, same as her mum, but the other daughter didn't come in until about 13 months. She's not old enough yet to have a second season, so I don't know about the gap between seasons with her yet.

'Coming in season' vibes heading your way Wink

As far as I know, Angus' dam had no problems(seasons every 5 months) and she has a daughter who had had 2 seasons already at 18 months old, but Ileene is also waiting on another pup 16 months old to have a 1st season, and she would follow Angus' G-sire side, on his sires side Rolling Eyes are you following me Laughing so shares a common ancestory there.

I'm just being impatient I think, I want to know that everything is in good working order, now we have had everything else, healthwise, come back good Smile (and I've nothing else to worry 'bout, got to have something Laughing Wink )

My bitch has just finished her first season at the age of 13 months, whereas her sister had hers at 11 months. I think their dam had hers at a similar age to the sister, 10/11 months.

Having talked to their owner, one interesting thing that came up was that he mentioned that his always seem to come into season, as did Winnie for her first one, after they had been to stay at his parents whilst they were away. Funnily enough Fennel had her first one after I went to Glastonbury and she stayed with friends for the weekend, she started the day after I got her back!

Whether there is anything in that I don't know but it seemed like a funny coincidence!

I guess the ops could potentially have affected her growth, as the body will be putting energy into healing and recovery rather than growing if you see what I mean. I know that Fennel is taking longer to mature than Winnie in appearance and so it may be that Izzy has had a couple of growth checks which are slowing her down?

I know how you feel though, I had started wondering if she had any ovaries! lol. I had all but given up on her and then she totally surprised me Wink Hope she has one soon!

Vicky
