I was looking in a local pet supermarket for a new collar for Herbie, as the stitching in his previous leather collar was starting to pull apart. I noticed the "Rogz" range of collars with the plastic clasp. How strong are they? Herbie does walk well on the lead, but if he sees a cat or a dog that he doesn't like the look of, he will suddenly pull forwards - all 5 ton of him! I just feel that the plastic clasp wouldn't be strong enough. The last thing I'd want is for his collar to break - the thought is just unthinkable .
Can anyone advise? I ended up buying another leather collar and will just make periodic checks on the stitching.
Hi mish i wona a red dingo from padfoot and they are very strong even with the tazmanian devil i take out...i know it isnt rogz but might be something similar HTH
I have a Rogz one for Corbie - blue with pawprints on it. He pulls when lunging after sheep, rabbits, etc but he would have had the collar 8 months now and it's still as good as new. Haven't had any problems with any collars with plastic clasps.
There's also a bit which slips down on the plastic clasp to lock it shut so it can't accidently come open, which normal plastic clasp collars don't have. I never lock Corbie's though.
Both of mine have collars with the plastic clasp on, not Rogz, but the same idea............not had a problem yet and Molly has been wearing hers for 4 years now
One advantage of this type of collar is the ease at which they undo, so if there was an emergency, you'd be able to release your dogs collar very quickly
I bough Charlie a Rogz collar and lead from Crufts this year. It's great and I love the plastic clip which I lock when he has it on. I haven't had any problems with the clip but the only slight problem I do have is that Charlie likes to swim everyday and the collar stretches a little bit when it's wet so be sure to tighten it a little bit afterwards if this happens so it doesn't slip over his head if he pulls on his lead
We have three collars with plastic clips (one is a Rogz), and Brady pulls a lot! All three have lasted well, have never opened/unclipped when he pulls, and wash well after getting all salty in the sea.
I prefer collars with plastic clips as they don't rust after getting wet (every day!)
I like Rogz too... bought the same one as Wendy at Crufts (but in a different colour) for Danny and we haven't had any problems either....like the idea of the locking mechanism too
