Firstly is it a year when they are considered a dog and not a puppy? But when did you lot begin to think of your own as 'grown up'
Mine is 14 mnths now and i would DEFINITELY still consider him a puppy, in fact i still call him puppy sometimes!!

This is him at about 10 weeks

I think they say labs start to grow up when they are about three Laughing Laughing

We were only just talking about this, and we reckon Hally was about 2½ when she started to change - not that she was ever the wildest puppy - although she did have her moments!!.

Clover is 17 months, and still looks and acts like a puppy - the way she's going, I think she will be about 10 before she calms down. Laughing Laughing

Lily is 13 months today and although I see a glimmer of the adult dog she might become (oh please!) she's not there yet! I think they're supposed to be adolesants until they're about 18 months but she doesn't have anything like the attitude my 16 year old son has!!

I think Ruby was 18 months when I noticed a change - maybe a bit before. We called her a 'duppy' or a 'pog' for a bit hehe

She was always bags of energy but she suddenly got calmer and sedate around the house a lot more - actually this was around the time of her first season at 15months

Leo is 2 and a half years old now but i deffo noticed a change after about a year old. He was soooo mellow and calm after he hit around a year old. Meg is 8 months and has just started her 1st season, I guess shes still very much a baby, but i have started to call her a young lady now instead of a puppy Smile I have noticed her chilling out a lot more around the house over the past few weeks! She still has bags and bags of energy, but hey, shes a BC so thats pritty normal. Laughing

Danny is 18 months old, and although I can see the beginnings of what will be a nice mature dog its still a long way off.... he is still very much a big puppy!!!!

"they" say that a lab matures between 2 to 3 years old... Rolling Eyes

Some people say 2 years is when they grow up - I have that date marked in red on the calander Shocked

Technically speaking at a year a puppy becomes a 'Junior' in the eyes of the body that be's (the KC) NOT a DOG as such but a Junior... then at 18 months he goes to being an adult.

Ditto working tests - PUPPY tests allow running in until 18 months of age....

So really that is about the time he becomes a 'man' BUT to be honest about a year is when you can't really use the 'Sorry he just put his paws all over your clean coat - after all he IS a puppy!' excuse anymore - Grin....

I would say it all depends on the dog. Doobs 'grew' up when he was about 2, whereas Mills is around 2 and a bit and is nowhere near grown up. In fact she is very immature and Gracie is certainly more mature than her, and she is only 16 months. Mind you, Gracie was born old lol
