Hi,
Have just read with ,much interest this tread, I unfortunatly didn't ask a lot of these questions, as I saw pups first and fell in love ! So will now be keeping everything crossed fro Bobo.
However, I would like to share the experience I had when getting our Cavalier pup.
We checked the breeder as much a humanly possible, she only bred when SHE wanted a new show dog and would breed from one of her champs, she was for want of a better word anal abt her testing, and we met with her for an hour before we even saw the pups, she was checking us out as suitable owners as much as we were checking her.
Duke came home with us 3 weeks later, at abt 8 months old, he yelped in the back garden, and came in lame on his back leg, £3000 and 6 months later he had had both back legs rebuilt and pinned. For all the checks they couldn't anticipate luxating patella or Hyperthyroidism (negative in the end but he went bald at age 3 and had other symptoms) The insurance company will NEVER get back what they have payed out on Duke as we will never get back the sleepless nights . But we love him and wouldn't change him for the world.
I was told all these tests have been done for her parents and were ok, but didn't insist on seeing the paperwork . We can only do so much to protect the health of our pups and stop the irrisponsible breeding.
The vet has checked Bobo and she appears a healthy happy pup.
I just want to demonstrate all these tests are not exhaustive and as with humans, other health issues can arrise which we can't predict or plan for.
We all love our pups and want whats best for them xx

Hi,
The only thing that comes to mind is that one always MUST insist on seeing the paperwork with the proof of the tests and screening. Any reputable breeder will be only too happy that a potential owner asks for the proof. Any hesitation in providing the paperwork and it's a bad sign and one should walk away!!
Just giving this a little bump in this current flourishing puppy buyer market and so many looking for new puppies. Also to point it out to 'you know who you are'
Bumpety etc!
