Hi Tammy, well yes basically gunshot could easily scare a puppy but if it is a goodly distance away and they are kept distracted its not too bad.
there are times for starting to aclimatise a puppy to shot and just coming up 10 weeks is really too early... but that is only if you MEANT actually to try and get him used to it - hearing the odd 'pop' from a starter pistol is probably only for the good.
What you DON'T want, you see, is IF Jake had been inclined to be shy, which you often can't know till you try, it could have taken YEARS to really get him over it being him so young and impressionable right now. Luckily he obviously is not and Rachel knows to take it very easy in that department so as not to mess anything up for later

Just to clarify for those wondering - Jake's trip to training was not to introduce him to anything at the training session, other than for him to experience another car ride... although he did get lots of fuss from some of the other people there - which was good... and my OH played with him in the back of the car so as to keep him occupied (apart from the hour he was asleep )
thats interesting. When I got Henry, he was 6 months old and him and his two brothers were being sold as the breeder had only decided which dog to keep for working. I always thought that was quite old for him to decide which dog to keep.
