Posted: Fri Jul 06, 2007 4:37 pm Post subject: Thanks for you help....can i ask something else :0)
Thank you everyone who replies to my original post Have i done the right thing?
I now have the sire reg number and dob, how do i go about finding out his scores, if he has them logged on KC?
I understand i need to look at the breed list?
If only the Sire is hipscored it really makes no sense to put anymore time into this litter (or emotion for all the reasons listed in the previous emails).
Its like having one half of a car that works (maybe if he is scored and the scores are good) and one half that doesn't... the car will still quite probably break down as one half is not working!
Both parents need sound health to produce healthy puppies.... please do waste no more time on thisbreeder and ask us for contacts for litters rather than flogging this shoddy if well meaning breeder and enocuraing them to breed again by purchasing one of their pups.
i KNOW that sounds hard to you, but really it isn't, in a couple of days you will have a new helathy bundle to coo over and be thrilled with to watch grow till you can pick it up.

I just wanted to say thank you for all your advice and to sue for checking the list for the sires results.
I have received an email from the owner of our pup which included the number of the vets who gave them a check up recently. I called and spoke to them and raised my concerns about non health checked parents and i am now completely reassured that i am buying a happy puppy.
They have said they are all growing very well and are exceptionally well socialized and all good weights. They said the owners are very down to earth and honest and thinks they have done a brilliant job with this litter, obviously along with mum
With any dog there is no guarantee that they will be healthy, even if they come from scored parents and whilst i understand the concerns and the risks involved, i will continue with this litter as planned and ensure that we have good insurance, just in case.
I look forward to posting the pictures of Teva when we collect her and chatting to you all and getting advice on all aspects of a new puppy!
What can you say? Good luck. If vets won't stand by the schemes THEY designed then who will for breeding healthy stock. You are a buying a puppy that looks shiney and well painted from the outside but could well be rusty and damaged on the inside. There are no guarantees but healthy parents INTERNALLY, not parents with happy similey faces and shiney coats, produce healthy puppies on thw whole, hence the health schemes being here for around 35 years now..... But we still wish you well I'm sure.
What a shame that heart (and a deposit laid) can so severely overide very basic common sense to walk away.
Please take out extensive pet insuarnce for the future incase you need it before they change the rulings to 'must have bought from healthchecked parents' as it will come shortly.

Sorry seems like we are talking about you - not to you - but katy jane, why ASK if the advice from experts well into the breed comes back saying one thing if you are going to completely ignore it. The breeder WILL say 'buy from me'? Wouldn't any dodgy second hand car dealer? I'm sorry your vet said it was acceptable to breed without hip scores and eye certificates, it goes ENTIRELY against BVA (his professional body) advice that he should be adherring to as they designed the schemes for the good of puppies like *yours*!
Sorry my exasperation. Shut up Di eh? You can't win em' all, some have to tred their own path.
