The Furminator will sort out the moulting problem and is much better than a shedding blade (see topic in here) Smile

An oily coat will help as far as water is concerned, but not having one just means a more wet and probably more cold doggie (depending on weather) - something that can be helped with the likes of either a dry dog bag:

OR a woven microfibre pet towel that soaks and dries at least four times faster than an ordinary towel:
