Hi Bailey is 9 months this week but still wees like a girl at what age should he be cocking his leg? he will sniff a lamp post where a dog has cocked his leg but it doesn't make him want to do the same... Sarah and Bailey
From what I've been told it is a dominance thing. They need/want to get their scent higher than the last dog and literally be "top dog". If your boy is laid back or not particuarly dominant he may not bother. Jet was about 10 months when he started cocking his leg. He always ***** when we're out on a walk, but at home sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't.
I would say he's confident at home and feels he can be lazy, but he wants the world to know where he's been when he's out and about.
I've got one that's 27months that has never even attempted to **** his and hurray for that! I hate nothing more than a dog that feel the need to **** his leg ever 3 yards but excessive cocking can be solved with training..
My Bailey's 9 months old as well and he's not cocking his leg yet, his friend Casper who's a westie is 10 days younger than him has been cocking his leg for nearly 2 months.
