Jill you are so right: don't breed unless you'll be able to take the puppies back!!!! Another responsible breeder
As for the Accredited breeder scheme, hmmmmm - it always seem as if the KC starts out with the best of intentions but then it all ends up a bit of a mess Maybe I should save my money... I had a look at their 'Accredited instructor scheme' (They do love the word: Accredited ) and was hugely disappointed to discover that all works like an self assessment thing - pretty useless....

i am a big fan of fox reds and to be honest the handfull of ftch dogs that produce reds is small and most of the top red sires are carriers ,however thats not to say there arent clear pups from red dogs available.
i have a optigen clear dog 00 hips 00 elbows and current clear eye certs who has just produced litters from clear bitches.
the working side have been slower to take on board optigen but its getting there .
personally all my dogs are optigen tested hip scored ,elbow scored and have current eye certs if they are to be bred from.
you need to be carefull with the reds as most are sired by some of the most prolific studs in the gundog world.
when we pointed this out to jeff sampson the kc geneticist in his words he was staggered by the fact that so many of the top ftch dogs are sired by so few studs .the most prolific of the last 10 years producing nearly 2000 pups and the rest of the top dogs who produce reds accounting for over 5000 pups between them.
