Over the last 2 days a lot has happend here and Truffles has been a complete star
As said in my other post my son was very ill on Sunday night and ended up in hospital. Josh had been laid on the sofa - Truffs kept "checking up" on him every now and again. She was very gentle and gave him little kisses
About 9pm we had to rush out to the emergency doctors, so Truffs had to go in her crate, and because Josh was admitted into hospital OH had to rush back home to get our stuff, it wasn't till gone 1am that she could be let out but this was only for about half an hour because OH had to go to bed.
OH had to work yesterday and had a early start - he nipped into hospital to see us at 6am before he started. So Truffs hadn't had that long out of her crate
I was hoping to get back for her during the day but because of the changing circumstances I was unable to get home OH was also hoping to get back but couldn't due to the floods.
My OH was driving a coach yesterday and was stuck due to the bad weather outside of town so we didn't know what time he'd be home. It soon became apparent that Hull had been badly hit by the weather and floods were every where. Kingswood where I live was said to be very bad. I was so scared our house would be flooded and poor Truffs would be trapped in her crate. I even cried while talking to one of the nurses (we were all in the same boat - nurses/doctors/staff could not go home as the night shifts could not get in).
I had to use my mums mobile at 6pm to try and get in touch with OH (mine had very little life left). OH informed me he was just heading home (in the coach!) and Kingswood was so flooded - fire engines everywhere. They advised him not to go through but he said he wanted to check on his dog.
Truffles was so happy to see him, she was let out into the garden but only for a few minutes. (Our house was fine but 10 houses away is a different story ). Anyway Truffs had a clean crate, OH expected a mess. But she had to go back in her crate while OH took the coach back and pick his car up and on to the hospital.
From the hospital he had to take my mum home to the other side of town. Then back to hospital to see Josh, who was discharged at 8pm and we finally got home at 9ish.
Truffs and myself hadn't seen each other for 24 hours I have never seen such a bouncy fussy dog. She got stacks of fuss God I'd missed her.
Because we'd all had very little sleep we'd gone to bed at 10 - so back to the crate for Truffs. We felt so awful for her. I got up at 5.30 this morning with OH and let her out. So in 32 hours poor Truffs had been in her crate with only small brakes that totalled up to about 3 hours
So you see she is my little star. She was brilliant. I don't go out to work so she will have my son and myself around. When able I am going to buy her a treat. Hopefully I can get her out for a walk later (Josh would benifit from some fresh air also) but it all depends on were we can go - it is really bad around here
Sorry for the long drawn out post!
Truffs is currently sat at my feet nibbling my toes!!
WTG Truffs...labs adapt so well to some situations, she could obviously tell you were worried and didn't want to add to your stress, she would of also known this was not the norm.
As Sheena says Labs are very adpatable, they seem to know whats happening is outside the norm and that things will get back to normal if they stay patient
Glad things can get back to some sense of normality for you all, hope the flood waters recede soon, I don`t doubt Truffles will understand if she can`t go for a walk today
Truffles has been getting lots of fuss she had sardines at lunch time. She had two walks and 2 swims in the farmers field! She also got a bit sheppards pie with her tea
