I brought some work home. I've some papers to read through for tommorow.
It's really foul weather outside (as most of you will know).
I've got all the feeding out of the way (including myself).
So, I thought, the lads will make do with the garden tonight, it's too rough to go into the fields and I can get some reading done.
Yes, I know. Silly begger me!
I've got everything laid out on the coffee table, I've poured a nice glass of the warn stuff, I start on the first batch of papers... then I have the feeling I'm being watched.
I look up to find two pairs of sorrowful eyes glaring at me.
"What?" I say. And Perro starts his 'time to go into the fields dad' dance. Then Harry joins in with his 'yes it is' dance.
"But it's piddling down. You'll have to go in the garden" I open the door but neither of them will go out.
"It's too rough and I've got work to do" I say and go back to my papers.
I'm being watched. Then a whimper. Then a dance.
So I give in.
On go the wellies, the wetlegs, the field coat, sweeties (dog treats) in pocket, and of we go into the fields.
It's chucking it down, blowing a gale, the paths are like rivers and my two lads are bouncing through the corn like spring lambs. An hour later and I'm back with aching legs (the long grass has been battered down and it was hard walking through it) and two total soggy but happy doggies.
They are both fast asleep now and I can start doing what I was hoping to do two hours ago.
PLEASE tell me that I'm not the only daft one around here.
Definitely not - i was tramping round the sand dunes at 6:45am this morning. It was absolutely bouncing down i so need some waterproof trousers and despite being woken by the rain at 5am i didn't occur to me that wellies might be a good idea!
Yer not on yer own there.
Mine spotted the biggest puddle in the world and lay down then rolled in it.
So it was a soggy, wind battered me and 2 very, very dirty, soggy pups!!!!
The things we do for those sad eyed, whiney dogs eh!!!!
I was out there in the gales tonight...on the blustery (and very wet) Welsh hills. Are we mad? Probably...but I think it's worth it to see a soggy, happy and tired labbie when you get home at the end of it.
