Hi All,

I have got the 5 gen pedigree for Alfie my little 4 month choc lab,
very simple question is

whats the difference between this and the advanced 5 gen pedigree that the kc offer ??

does one show if any of his relies are ft champs etc and the other doesn't ??
or if the one i have shows none of these, do i assume he has no chams in his background ??

Any champs would be shown on the normal 5 generation pedigree you have from the breeder.

I can't remember what additional features the KC's advanced 5-gen pedigree shows, compared to the normal one.

One of the folks in the know is bound to be along soon Wink

At the very bottom of this page on the KC website there are some explanations about what the different sorts of pedigree certificate include.

I just have a basic £6 5 generation one for each of my dogs, and find it is perfectly sufficient. It still tells you which are show or field trials champions etc.

Helen.

I called the KC last week about this,

The £6 one is plain, the £21 one, shows SH CH and FT CH in red and is bigger.

Hope this helps
Simon

The only real difference is that the the KC one will contain a certified copy of the pedigree, whereas if the breeder has handwritten it, there is greater margin for error.

My pedigrees (and I know many other breeders use a computer as well) are done on a database, and would contain all the information available - hence, the main difference for the expensive one from the KC would be that theirs is on fancier paper, is biigger, contains yours and the breeders details as well as the dogs, and does look quite nice in a frame on your wall Wink

well it looks like he has got a few champs in his history,

do these names mean anything to anyone ?? all are in the 5th line, and nothing since then, but its a good start i guess.

SH CH Simanden kings neptune
CH Kupros Master Mariner
SH CH Lindall Mastercraft.

so am i correct in saying the sh stands for Show, ie crufts type thing rather than field trialing dogs ??

WHat does just CH mean ??

The fact that Alfie has got black lab in his history,, Is that a good things as opposed to yellow or just chocholate ??

Any info on the above dogs would be really cool,
I have got all his other parents and grandparents etc here, but i guess if they dont have letters before their names, they wont mean much to anyone ???

CH = Champion, of whatever sort. It is usually preceded by SH for Show Champion, or FT for Field Trials Champion.

I find all of the information on champions (FT or Show) is listed on the basic £6 pedigree from the KC. I think for the enhanced version which costs £21 they are shown up in different colours or something.

Charlie has a mixture of yellow and black labs in his pedigree. I don't know that it makes any difference really. He has no chocs that I am aware of yet. Very Happy

Helen.

Any recent dog with just CH before it's name means that it has become a show champion but has then qualified as a full champion in the field at a Show Gundog Working Qualifying test. so it could be looked upon as a step above a Sh Ch. In the old days there was no Sh Ch, they were all CH's

Regards, John
