I was wondering what is the naughtist thing that your labs have done?
I know I am going to regret saying this, but so far Poppy has been really good only the odd thing like biting the telephone wire, and eating ALL my plants in my garden so far so good She is nearly 5 months old. She hasn't been as bad as I thought she was going to be but I have crate trained her which has been a god send
I have a feeling that she is giving me a false sense of security
The naughtiest thing that one of my labs have done was quite a few years ago when we had our other lab who is sadly no longer with us.
Long story but I'll try to make it brief! Our car had been reversed into and was getting fixed so we had this brand new courtesy car. I had to go and collect my son from school and thought well I'll take the pup with me.
So I removed the parcel shelf and popped Velvet in the back, safe enough, I thought! Nipped out to get my son and when we got back to the car my son said,"mum, Velvet has chewed something" I replied that there was nothing in the boot so hence nothing to chew.
I drove off and went to signal left, nothing , yes she had chewed through the wires!
It was quite hard to get home just turning right!!! Luckily hubby managed to fix the wires when we got home.
When we'd had Rosie only a week or so, I went out and left a big bag of pick and mix on the table (yes yes I know, but I love my sweeties!!).
Anyway, Bosun wouldn't normally have touched them, but I suspect Rosie must have pulled them down and they had shredded the bag and eaten the lot by the time I got back.
I then had Rosies training class that evening, well it was like flying a kite on the end of the lead, she was on a sugar high!!!
Leo ate £20 belonging to my brother once - brother was not amused but Leo seemed to enjoy!
Daisy (non lab) jumped into the front passenger seat of someone else's car in a car park once too - complete with muddy feet, and sat there as if to say "well come on then, where are we going?!" The car owner was not best pleased....!!
Our labs must have a thing about courtesy cars. Mine was away getting fixed and the gave me a punto. Jake chewed the plastic bits that the seat belts clip into. Had to return it very red faced and all apologies and was then billed for £200
I think the worst thing Keira has done was to eat my coffee table, the top is about 2' x 1' 6". My dad had to make a complete new top for it, this was before her ops and confined crating, so in a way that was a godsend for teaching her not to chew However she has since wrecked every bed poor old Eliza has had.
Now the worst thing Eliza (non Lab) has ever done made me absolutely
It was 23rd December 2004, I got up early to go to Aberdeen for last minute Xmas shopping. All my presents were beautifully wrapped and under the tree and had been for about a week, which is unusual for me as I am normally found on Xmas Eve sitting on the floor, wrapping everything because I just have not been organised.
Aberdeen was heaving and it was a very long cold day. I eventually got home around 6 o'clock. My dad had been up a couple of times to let Eliza and Coogie out so I knew I shouldn't be coming home to any "unwelcome presents", if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I walk in, loaded down with shopping absolutely knackered, and there was "unwelcome presents" but not what you are thinking. One dog looking very very sheepish amongst tons and tons of xmas paper, boxes etc ripped to shreads
Now Eliza is a chocoholic and you have to very careful when leaving chocolate around, but there was one present that was wrapped that had 6 tiny chocolates in it, it wasn't under the tree but in it. All I can presume is that she sniffed it out and got the chocolate and decided to see if there was anymore.
So there I was on 23rd December, half my presents wrecked, no wrapping paper left for the ones that weren't and a car half full of alcohol. What was a girl to do yes I emptied the car
At the time I was so angry, but now I find it extremely funny
Just thought Willow would be okay to leave out of her crate at night- usually my first step to leaving them out for short periods during the day....Almost new M&S sofa and chair- she chewed all the zips out of the seat cushions and took the corners off all my£30 scatter cushions.
All the seat cushions are sewn back in place as new zips were going to cost a fortune in relation to the price of the sofa!! and I had to throw all the scatter cushions away.
Saying this hopefully without tempting fate..... Dora so far hasnt even looked at anything and the children will leave shoes socks textbooks computer game console charging units etc just where the drop them!
She on the otherhand has been surrounded by and has been a good deal more interested in her chew toys than Willow ever was so may be.......
charlie my ckc and tessa ate £60 between them that was left on the stairs..lol.
brandy was when we left her and my late choccy tessa in the kitchen when we went out she is lucky to be alive.. she had somehow managed to pull our cooker away from the wall and chew chunks threw the electric cable needless to say the electrician was *shocked* (hehehehhe sorry) that brandy wasnt dead..lol..
rosze OMG.. she has had one bad day were she done a multitude of bad things..
left in teh house for 1hr with brandy and charlie in that 1hr (can i just add newley decorated hall landing stairs)
ok she.
chewed the firehearth
pulled the wallpaper of the wall
chewed the palster from the wall
chewed my bottom stair
chewed the carpet on the stair
chewed the skirting boards in the hall
chewed up my sons fav video
took a chunk from teh top of the stairs including wallpaper and plaster..
i think that was it..lol.. she was 6 months old at teh time
OMG!! The worst thing Poppy has ever done was eat the insole out of my daughter's school shoe when she was a pup. She's done some funny things, like stealing underwear and the cat's food when he's not looking, but other than that she's never ruined anything. Is she definitely a lab?
Is there any difference between a dog that has been crate-trained and one that hasn't when it comes to being destructive, do you think? Or is it simply down to personality or being left too long, etc? I worry that my new pup will break the mould and wreck my house now!
