Great post!

A friend of mine alerted me to Lungworm recently as there's apparently been an outbreak in our area (Guildford/Worplesdon/Brookwood areas in Surrey) and there have even been some fatalities.

When I heard this I took Lucy straight to the vets and she was put on a course of 'powder' for a week, specifically for this. I believe, now, some mainstream wormers include the compound for lungworm, which she'll be getting every 3 months as standard.

Lucy is a BIG lover of snails.....i'd rather take precautions!

I know this is in response to an old post but I wonder if anyone knows anything about ulcers on the gums of dogs with lungworm. Also, would Milbemax knock out any sign of lungworm?

milbemax is a wormer that covers lungworm as a preventative measure i think - not sure about once your dog already has lungworm Confused

I think that may be a different course of treatment

I understand Advocate has recently been licensed for Lungworm, but to my knowledge is the only product.

Regards, John

I would certainly not argue with your vet Sarah, I guess he knows more than me. But often a product is known to clear up a particular problem before it actually gets licensed for that thing. I know Advocate was on the market for a long time before it was actually licensed for Lungworm. (Or French Heartworm as it's sometimes known.)

Regards, John
