i know what you mean. We looked at getting a rescue and it wasn't possible because of our work schedule.
I can understand with older rescue dogs that they might need the time etc etc to adjust but i can't understand when they apply the same rules to the puppies.
It must be a hard job to do... its just a shame when u know you could provide an amazing loving home

I'm amazed at how many others would love to rescue but do not meet the criteria. I can see it from the rescue centre's point of view too, and I guess it is the "throw-away" society that we live in that is to blame. No doubt the rescue centres have suffered in the past with dogs/puppies being returned because the owners didn't have enough time for them etc. It is a shame though and I wish they would maybe come out to the house and investigate for themselves before making a decision.
Fingers crossed I will get my puppy at some point....
Remember good and decent breeders ('decent' as in moral, careful and thoughtful) do not add to the Rescue statistics (or never knowingly). They will take back any unwanted dogs, they make themselves approachable so people with problems can feel they can go to them for help or assistance and they are known well or vaguely to many people in the area and breed clubs etc etc so that if one of theirs comes into rescue they soon know about it and deal with it themselves.
Some don't, but they are not the sort of breeders anyone would want to buy from.
So never feel guilty about buying a puppy from a kind caring decent breeder. THEY are not the ones adding to rescue, they are just providing great companions to homes that prefer not to rescue, or can't.
One should never feel guilty for buying not rescuing. Its the poor shoddy BREEDERS that should feel guilty, churning out dogs, not keeping track of them, not taking them back, not having any experience of fdogs TO help with any problems, not answering or returning calls for help from owners etc etc... meaning the dog ends up in rescue.
