yellow and chocolate parents = chocolate and custard
Chocolate and black = darkness surprise
chocolate and chocolate = chocolate heaven
Black and black = midnight heaven
yellow and yellow = double custard
yellow and black = midnight custard
It is meaning 'both parents are chocolate' as opposed to one being choc and one black (for instance) but its a stupid silly term. Its supposed to 'imply' that somehow these are 'more' chocolate genetically... not 'watered down' by having 'other colours' behind them...
people also use the phrase 'pure chocolate' to mean two chocolate parents PROBABLY from two parents each all which were chocolate...
It means nothing genetically and implies the coat colour is darker... marketing, absolutely, but misunderstood marketing absolutely!

My lads are "Double Chocolate" then Hooo-weee!
I've got the proper fashion accessory. The real thing!
Just think, over cocktails and canapes, I can say "You know, my two are 'Double Chocolate' Labradors."
Does it affect what shade of chocolate they turn out to be? Not with my two.
Perro and Harry have the same Dam but different Sires, both Dam and Sires are chocolate (I'm not sure about grandparents but it's most likely).
Perro is darker than Harry. Perro is Bournville Chocolate and Harry is Dairy Milk.
Perro has a 'patterned' coat, (by that I mean that in certain light he looks mahogany, with varying patterns), where Harry has a lighter plain coat and is a solid colour (that might change yet).
