My mum has a dog, Kasey, who is 14 now. Although he doesnt look or act it lol
Truly has met him a few times now, and they have got on great right from the start.
But today I dont know what happenned
Truly was really being a meany! She was constantly jumping on his back, biting his ears, biting at his throat, trying to eat is tail, and generally being a psycho!
I couldnt tell if she was just playing, or if she was being nasty? I mean at 11 weeks old and being so wonderful in every other way I really couldnt see that she would be being aggresive, but she was just sooo full on! We had to seperate them in the end because she just wouldnt leave him alone.
Thing is he wouldnt tell her off. Id have assumed that he would have barked at her or whatever to tell her off and make her stop but he wouldnt so she just carried on.
My mum brought his water bowl into the garden so she wouldnt have to go in and out, and she wouldnt let him have a drink!!
Every time he came over she went to sort of bite at his face so he walked off! Then she lay down next to it almost keeping guard! I had to call her to me and get her to sit whilst kasey had a drink in peace!
Thing is my mum rang and said that he has wandered around smelling and crying since we went, being all silly like he wants to have her back, he did this last time as well. So he canthave been that bothered by her? But he kept running tail between legs when we were there which is why we put him in and kept her with us in the garden!
Im scared to take her back now because I dont want her to hurt him, I mean he is old, and what if it is all too much for him and he just isnt telling her off just because he is so good natured?
Do you think I should worry, is she going to be a devil dog when she is older She is totally OTT with every dog she meets but this took the biscuit!
I couldnt even get a decent pic because they wouldnt keep still lol
Is this normal?! It cant be can it Will training classes help?
Ruby harassed the life out of my mums then 13 year old collie who was too poorly to tell ruby off - we just kept Ruby on lead when she was in hyper looney mode.
Now Ruby is older they are fine - I would personally keep them apart when she gets that glint in her eye.
I tried the lead thing for a few mins but she was going to hurt herself pulling so hard to get away and jumping everywhere to get to him, so I just said we would have to seperate them or Id have to bring her home. Ive never seen her tail wag so fast though, but she was just too much. He is such a sweet boy, so gentle to everyone, I really do think he would just tolerate it rather than tell her off, which is horrible for him
I was telling her off for it and telling her to 'be nice' and 'no biting' but she didnt listen at all which is so unlike her.
I think Ill have to do that and just keep her on the lead when we go there. Hopfully she will stop when she realises she doesnt get to play if she is a meany!
Cutest thing ever though, we let them say goodbye and she was tired by then so was being good, I got some treats out my bag, and they both sat and started giving me their paws at the same time lol!! He is as bad as she is for anything edible lol
awwwwwwwww it will pass very quickly so dont worry - they will be alll snuggled up together in a few months
We used to keep Ruby on her car harness and put the lead on that as they was less strangulation risk
If you really want to tackle it take a baby gate round there and put her the other side of it when she is being a pest and so she is excluded from him and all the people too - it might help
i think you'll just have to supervise when they are together as if he is old and a softie he won't put her in her place.
puppy classes and socialisation will help her loads in my humble opinion.
Coal is really good with other dogs and seems to know when he can be a loon with them and when he should give them some space but he was as a bold as brass as a pup! he walked up to my friends collie when she was growling at him and licked her teeth!!!
he got rolled by a girl once too (Lorri-ann's abby) very amusing and certainly stopped him being a pain in the bum.
she'll learn to calm down around your mum's dog soon hopefully. she prob is missing litter/play mate company.
GT's are great by the way

I didnt think about her missing her brothers and sisters you are probobly right, I suppose no amount of attention and love and play we give her is the same as what they are used to.
youve given me some great ideas and really put my mind at rest, so thankyou, it is nice to know that she isnt the only pup that has done this lol
Thats funny Coal licking the dogs teeth as it was growling lol!! Sounds just how Truly is, cheaky lol Bet that made you laugh, bet the other dog didnt know what to do, reminds me of that saying 'kill them with kindness' lol
The stairgate idea is brill, I will take one over there this week, and put it in the kitchen, then she can see what she is missing when she plays too rough the lil minx!
The harness idea is also a genius plan, I was actually looking at the ring on the end of the harness bit wondering if it was for leads lol I was so scared I was strangling her when she was being a mentalist everywhere with the collar pulling at her!
Made me realise how tough she is though and how strong they are even at this age
There is a meet up at Leybourne lakes next weekend isnt there, Im taking her to that cant wait! Shell prob be thrown in the lake by one of them that isnt prepared to stand for her nonsense
Oh and I have the number for a training class that isnt far from me, that has been recommended by one of the mums at Kians school that has a springer Lab cross. Going to give them a ring tomorrow and see when she can start now she is allowed out after her last jab.
I shall pray from now until then that she wont terrorise everyone and have us banned lol
She seems quite bright so I think if Im consistent she should learn. (but then I have no idea of when they 'should' do things lol)
She does sit, paw, lay down, roll over, and will sit and stay until I tell her to take her dinner.
she does 'fetch' but will wait where it has been thrown to until I say 'bring it' and then will drop it when I say 'drop' or I say 'leave it' and she lets go if Im holding the other side. she does 'sit' without me saying it when I raise my hand when she can see me from across the room she will sit.
She comes to my whistle, and to her 'proper' whistle (one from the petshop) she knows 'off' if she jumps at the sofa, side of the bath etc, and hardly has any accidents in the house now (only 1 today which was my fault!)
She finds her 'Do' her lil blanky thing with a rabbit on, we hide it and say 'get do' and she will hunt it out lol she will leave every other toy and find that one, she knows who Do is lol!
My mate didnt believe me, she hadnt seen her since the first week we had her and she couldnt believe that she could do all that, shes got her own dog and kept saying she was too young etc (making me feel like a mad woman!), she came round the other day, I let Truly have her funny five mins then showed my friend her 'tricks'. she just sat with her mouth on the floor lol
Then went 'now I know why labs are guide dogs thats mental' lol!!
Sorry, proud mummy moment
So shes not all bad, I just hope Kasey doesnt have nightmares lol
oh she'll love the GT even if you do end up carrying her loads as she'll be proper worn out by all the big dogs!
The poor collie really didn't know what to do! we were all peeing ourselves with laughter at his cheekiness! couldn't beleive it. i think he just had no idea what a growl meant
so little truly is just a normal little pup by the sounds of it!
