Well, you have been given all the tell-tale signs here. I have had Topsy (my cocker spaniel) in season for the last two or three weeks. She should be coming to the end of it shortly, but I am not taking her out with us at the moment, or for the next couple of weeks because I am not confident in my own abilities to manage if an awkward situation should occur.
That said though, I have had a couple of these situations nonetheless because Charlie (my poor yellow lab boy ) was still going out and about for walkies with me and must have been carrying Topsy's bitch on heat scent. He kept attracting males, who then would not go back to their owners on recall. One of them was even his own uncle, who wanted to follow us home. I took to dousing Charlie in Anti-Mate Bitch Spray before each outing in order to mask it a bit. A good thing he can't read - his street cred must have been in tatters. It made him reek like a citronella factory and he wasn't impressed.
Helen.
