We recently moved into a new house and thinking that skye would love the new garden we couldnt wait to let her out in it but the other day she decided to do a disappearing act on us and nearly gave us heart failure.
we were all outside in the garden OH was taking down the old owners greenhouse when i went in to make a cup of tea and make a call, OH come in and said wheres skye.
i had thought she was outside with him and he thought she was with me, totally panicked we run down the street shouting on her, she must have went into the neighbours garden and out onto their driveway then onto the street.
when we couldnt see her we jumped in the car and drove round the corner shouting her and stopping to ask people if they had seen her, finally an elderly man said yeah he'd seen a white dog running around on the grass at the top of the hill and someone was trying to get hold of it.
I was close to tears by now i thought she might run onto the road and get hurt or get spooked and run into a completely different area, i thought she didnt know round here very well at all yet.
thankfully as we drove past the house again there she was with a lady who lived down the street, we go past her house on our walks and skye often stops to have a little sniff with her 3 dogs, she had obviously headed up there to play with the dogs, i never even thought to check there i just didnt think she would know to go there but obviously i was wrong, thank god the lady brought her back to us we were frantic.
i really feel for others who have lost dogs for long periods of time it was absolute torture.
we have a fenced off area now but we cant have the whole of our garden fenced off yet because our awkward neighbour is causing problems and is arguing over how much is ours and how much is hers.so this fantastic garden we thought she'd have to herself is gone to pot! poor thing! lol

Bless you xx You must have felt terrible. I answered the door one day and didn't see or feel Truffs walk past me and out the front door. I went back in and went to see her in the garden. She wasn't there, so I checked all the house. I felt so sick. I just happened to look out of the window and there she was playing in the cul-da-sac! I ran down stairs and opened the door. She was only about 10 feet away but it seemed like miles. Luckily she did come to me and I got her in. But the panic I felt was horrible.
Hope you can soon sort the fence issue out. Neighbours can cause such a lot of hassle. Ours rent next door and have no respect what so ever. I wont rant on though

Oh dear, how awful. I know that awful feeling when you can't find them. I came home from work one day & didn't have the usual happy Milo to greet me. I called for him, looked everywhere & couldn't find him. I phoned my husband crying who said he didn't know where he could be. I didn't know how he'd have got out because all the doors were locked. I was just about to phone the police when hubbys friend walked through the door, Milo in tow, PHEW (never felt more relieved!) I forgot hubbys friend had a key to our house & he'd decided to take Milo out but couldn't get hold of us to let us know (a note would have been nice!)
I hope your back garden gets sorted out soon Louise x

glad to hear you found Skye, must've been a heart-stopping time.
Could you erect fencing within your boundary? the previous owner of our old house did this as the neighbour didn't want a 6ft fence up, so they just erected it an inch in from the boundary line
