As far as I'm aware (but I could be wrong) their training is really all about getting owners out and about outdoors, they don't do things like empty the washing machine etc like Dogs for the Disabled. That said, as they are very intelligent, I'm sure their owners do teach them other things. But once indoors they are generally off duty.
There are a very few dual dogs that have been trained by both Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs and they do both roles which is pretty amazing.
Oh wow, look at all these replies
I'm so glad I shared with you all, because I have been giggling to myself all day just remembering it, and I'm glad it's made you lot smile too!!
They'd just taken some pastries out of the oven too so it was smelling REALLY yummy no wonder he wanted to go in!
I am sure that the handler knew where she was, she must have been able to smell it too
I'll have to keep my eyes out for them from now on, he was a very handsome boy and she was so lovely towards him, she kept on telling him how good he was, I'm sure they have a fabulous bond.
I spoke to my Nanna last week & she'd been into Nottingham & seen a guide dog. She was walking next to them & the dog gently nuzzled her out of the way so she didn't get too close! Amazing!
