The yellow flatcoats to me look far more attractive than golides, as you said, very distinctive. I love the head and body shape of the flatties but MOH won't tolerate a long haired dog - the shorties we've got moult enough!!
Jules, Milly is the same cross as Oyster and has a really fine, single coat.

Weird isn't it...You would think they would be more densely coated not have a finer one. Oyster does have some undercoat but nowhere near as much as Mojo has....You can barely find Mojo's skin when you part her fur, whereas Oysters fur is see through in places.
My black lab's hairs(Lily) are far more noticeable on the floor than the yellows - her hair is just falling off her atm in handfuls, and I suppose having a beech laminate floor doesn't help with the colour?????
Interesting question. I have no idea, but at Charlie's dog class every Wednesday there is a 5 year old black dog whose Mum was apparently a GR and his dad a black flatcoat. To me he looks very much like a black GR, only maybe slightly larger.
the acceptable breed colour standards... do these arise from the dogs original purposes?
I would have guessed so Sam but it didn't say on that site.

One of the Guide dog puppies I meet is this cross....He is absolutely gorgeous.....Like a black fluffy bear...I must admit I'm really quite smitten with him.
