As some of you will know I lost Coogie in April 2005 Crying or Very sad

. Her ashes have been with me in the house for over two years now. I am having my garden done at the moment and we are planting a tree tomorrow and Coogie is being laid to rest in her final place under the tree Smile

. I thought it only appropriate to give her a poem in her going.

It is very hard for me even after all this time Sad

so this could take some time.

I don't know if the time I post comes up when I started this or when it goes live, so start time of my post is 23:15.

Coogie you came to me, very late in your days
You were a real porker, and had to change your ways
You must have thought I was horrible, but I had to be cruel to be kind
After your health changed, I know you didn't mind.

We spent long days down the beach, swimming in the sea
You were a total water baby, you enjoyed that I could see
Sometimes I got worried, because the car was so far away
You wouldn't make it back there, and on the beach we would have to stay.

But that never happened, and you got fitter everyday
The vet was really happy, every week we went for your weigh
You went from 44 kilos, down to thirty two
You became a well loved part of the family, that you always knew.

Eliza really loved you, and you two got on so well
Even all the cats took to you, Tyke didn't attack so I could tell
You were accepted into the family, a family that loved you so much
You always were so gentle, in your hugs, looks and touch.

I really miss you baby, it is time for your final resting place
You are my big bear, and you leaving left such a huge space
You know you will always be with me, wherever I may roam
But I have made a special place for you, you can always be at home.

Keira has never met you, she came after you went away
She gets on great with Eliza, but she always wants to play
Eliza is an old girl, and misses her friend "big Heed"
Keira has been through some hard times, and her angel she did need.

I know you are watching over, making sure your friends are well
Whenever I talk about you, I am sad I bet you can tell
So sleep well my baby, I always know you are near
More than that my baby, I always wish you were here.

I love you Coogie always.

I understand how you feel, I lost my old dog Max 6 years ago and had his ashes in the house until the end of May last year when I lost my old cat Minky. When we laid Minky to rest in the garden the time felt right to let Max go with him, and also the ashes of my dads old dog Bruno, who's ashes had been in his house for even longer! Anyway its hard but no-one can ever take away your memories, and with each goes a little bit of your heart.

What a beautiful poem Jo, and a lovely tribute to your Coogie. May she enjoy her special place under her tree and long may she live on in your happy memories. Run forever free at the bridge Coogie (and you make sure you go easy on those lovely treats and biscuits, just because mummy isn't watching you just now, Coogie!)

that's lovely Joanne !!!

I will be thinking of Coogie tomorrow as you plant the tree - knowing every time you look at that tree in all its splended colours and growing glory - you too will think of your baby.

Edited to add: I also have a tree (a rather large one now) - representing my baby Taggart

Joanne, that is a beautiful tribute to Coogie, you did wonders with her getting her weight down and turning her into a much fitter girl than she was.

We spoke in the chat room about how all our past furbabies are gone but never forgotten, as someone else said on here each one goes with a piece of our heart, but they remain with us in spirit even tho they are no longer here in body.

We have them for so short a time, but we love them and they us for all that time Smile
