Hi All
I know this is late.... BUT I tend to read at work, it has taken me several days to read all the great posts, then when I wanted to reply find the thread again...! Perhaps we might have a few more additions now too, I cant be the only slow learner ....?
Anyway, hello (again). I am Joanne (Jo for short), married to long suffering Nick. I have had labs all my life (with mum and dad who currently have a bonkers border collie !). I have three labs currently Smudge (a girl...did I give her a boys name no wonder she has a complex), she is a Lindall black bitch who is not too well at present being almost sixteen, then we have gorgeous boy Troy (by Cambemer McGregor) who is black too and then Tally (big trouble in little house) who is choc and a Brigburn bitch by Sedge.
Phoebe my yellow has recently gone to Rainbow bridge
I work full tiem as a valuer and cataloguer for a specialist auction company, which I used to do as a consultant when I had my own business (Bear Bottoms) up until last year. Now have more time (and money) for doggies (and hubby, better say that in case he reads this). Nick is a Inst/ Electrical Design Engineer (havent a clue....?) fiddles with instruments it think.
Fingers crossed Tally will be having pups soon (if she graces us with a season that is .....!). I also collect lab books and docs (have bought some from Di I think), childrens literature and antique bears.
I have shown dogs for 16 years (off and on) now more on, best was a JW so far which I would love to improve on, and am interested in working but really need to do more research. I am a committee member for the Northumberland and Durham Lab Club and love helping here.
I could go on but wont, I am also very talkative, I would very much like to see anyone at shows, say hi.
I love all the other posts, cant believe how young people look....! Lots of single lab owners.....maybe there should be a match section, it would at least get over 'its me or the dog bit' quickly.
Nice to meet you all ps I am 36 on sunday
*sigh* Okay so I have held off doing this for soooooo long but I figure I should probably add my 2-bob's worth too
So many people on here are NOT what I was imagining So I guess I will not be anything like you've all imagined me either
I'm Vanessa, late 20's, married to Charlie, early 30's. I'm a Kiwi, we moved to Australia when I was a kid, I spent 15 years in Oz so I guess I call myself a bit of both.
My mum breeds & shows ESSs, and my dad has GSPs, so I have been around gundogs my entire life. Both Mum & Dad work their dogs and I've been shooting since I was given my first gun aged 4. In the past I've also had labs, border collies and blue heelers, so I've known a few breeds - all working dogs of some kind.
I moved to the UK 3 years ago and met Charlie a few months after I got here. Hubby and I ran off and got hitched in a tacky ceremony in Las Vegas (very cheesy, very me!) a year ago.
Here's a pic of us at our third (and final) wedding in Australia this February:
And one of Ozzie:
And my very special little man, Ozzie's little big brother, Rex the Hamster. He'll be 2 next month so he's definately in his twilight years!
Hello im Alyson im addicted to Labradors below is a pic of Charlie he came second place in a big class we were so pleased anyway i live with my husband and 3 children and 2 dogs in Newport
I'm Susie, i'm 27 and live with my bf of 9 years (we've lived together for 6 years) I've been self employed for 18 months when i set up an Events business. As i am working from home i had no excuse not to have a dog.
My parents had a black lab, Brandy, while i was growing up who we all adored and my OH sister has a choccie lab who lived with us for 10 months (sister, child and dog!!) so it was easy to decided to get a lab and along came Oscar.
He's our little chocolate devil who are got as a rescue when he was 18 months old ish... the poor little mite has been throught the wars in the last 10 months with his limbs.. he has a pin in one elbow, a peice of bone reed from the other elbow and he had a double hip replacement in December, he's off to the vets again in a week or so to have his knee looked at... bless him.
As well as working for myself i spend alot of time volunteering for the Labrador Welfare and currently organising their family fun day... www.funatrainbow.co.uk (sorry about the plug)
btw - the guys in the picture are ex work mates... just incase you were wondering!
Hi i'm jade, i have a lovely husband and two gorgeous boys age 13 and 4!! Charlie is my big chocolate boy he's 14 months and Fleur - golden retriever is my baby - 7 mnths now, we live in wiltshire so lots of nice countryside to walk in although i think a dirty puddle would do just as well!
Hi, my name is Liz and I have one Labrador Inca, cat named Cat Face and two horses, Ellie and Rhys.
Oh and I have an OH too!! I have previously had a Lab x Border Collie called Susie whom sadly lost last year. Managed to persuade OH to allow me to indulge myself (and him of course) and along came Inca pup last September. She will be one this month!!!
When I am brave enough and clever enough I too will put some piccies on here.
hello all well I am Karen and am married to Gordon and have been for 9.5 yrs, I am 27 and we have 3 children Bethany 9, Caitlin 8 and Samuel 5. They are a great bunch. I have been working as a childminder for 2.5 years now which allows me to be at home for my own children after school and through holidays etc and ofcourse for our dogs. We have Sonas (black lab) who is now 1 and Loki (black lab x possibly collie) who is roughly 9months, reason we don't know for sure is that he was found as a stray and we collected him from the kennels on his 7th day bonus for us though, I cannot believe no-one was looking for him he was about 20weeks at the time and so good he is not a chewer or howler etc he has fitted in with us so well. I found Lf while doing research into puppy training in anticipation of getting Sonas and am more of a lurker but have still managed to make some lovely friends through cyberspace, being so far away I have not met anyone personally as yet, but enjoy all your stories.

this is loki well it is the clearest one i have of loki on this computer but sonas happens to be in it too he is sitting!
Thought I'd tag on here too... just cuz! I'm Sally, 26 years old and I live in Stafford with a friend and Hudson. I work as a secretary to the local mental health team and also have a dotcom business. I'm originally from Northamptonshire but ended up here... somehow?! I have no ties to Stafford. No kids for me, but thoughts of another pup at some point in the future.
Hudson is now 10 months old, and is doing his Silver award after passing bronze a month or so ago. I can't see him passing silver yet! After waiting for 18 months for a yellow male pup, my wonderful breeder did not disappoint, and he came home with me on 17th November 2006 - I can't imagine being without him now. Interestingly, before him, I was scared of dogs!
