This morning I have been out into the garden and there is a large dead blackbird on the ground - not a mark on it
Never had cats so I don't really know whether they make a mess of birds or not when they catch them, but I do know that a lot of cats use our garden as a route through to the fields.... but I also know that Danny chases birds in the garden!!! We have a lot of blackbirds (and other birds) coming into the garden all the time and Danny chases these if they are brave enough to land on the floor as opposed to the fence or bushes...
My cat doesnt make a mess of them - she brings them to me as presents. She brought in 2 yesterday and they were untouched.
Ruby is scared of birds but I know other peeps woofs swallow them so dont think it would be danny. Do you have a big window? Birds fly into my window occasionally and I find them dead in the garden and sometimes a bird print on the glass
Possible I guess but unlikely I think Rach, cats sometimes to make a bit of a mess of birds but usually once dead they leave them and move onto something else, so they don`t always look like they`ve been attacked by a cat.
Its always possible to that the bird just died on your lawn from natural causes.
Usually when a dog runs after a bird they can fly off well before it gets there, unless of course its sick or injured.
My cats don't make a mess of them just bring them in as they seem to think mum wants a pressie Baxter has also given me dead mice that the cat has left in the garden..........yuk bless him he is always so pleased with himself look what i found mum !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So in answer to your question Rachel don't think Danny is a crazed murderer , he looks far too handsome and innocent
Tyke is a mouser and never really anything left of them, Jack is just sort of going out but I think he is a bird cat in training, Charlie never leaves the house. Keira chases birds, BUT funnily enough only the gulls or the crows I have a resident Blackbird that comes to my garden getting worms and bread for his fledglings and he really is a brave little bugger, it doesn't matter if any of the animals are out, he just carries on with his quest.
I would be so sad if anything happened to him
So your's has packed up all his cares and woes
There he goes, swinging low,
Bye Bye Blackbird
Mine have caught birds - not so much now but during April and May they would alway catch them, I've found a couple on my lawn dead - the birds are nutters, seem very young and didn't seem to be able to fly away quick enough and I have actually seen them catch but not kill the birds - I had to go out with them and make them leave the young birds alone. I don't think they mean to kill them, mine have brought me live mice before now too, poor things were probably so scared they died anyway, even though they get dropped and run off as soon as I realise.
Rosie would catch and kill if she was fast enough pmpl
She can spend ages watching their every moves but then moves like an elephant and the fly away pmpl
