Finally little Beau is home with us!! I went to pick him up this morning, and what a sad little baby he looked
They had to flush 2 litres of fluid through his joint to clear the infection and he has a 6 week course of strong antibiotics. But he's already using it more, although he's still very sore, so thats a good sign!!
We're planning to bring him along to the show tomorrow, just because we dont want to leave him alone in the house all day. He needs several 15-20 min walks each day and mustn't be kept in a crate, so he'd be best with us i think, besides, i'd only be worried if we left him He could do with the day out i think
He's been wandering around the house and garden with me and seems to quite happy putting a bit of weight on it, he's asleep on the sofa next to me now
Anyway, just thought i'd let you guys know he's home and doing well, fingers crossed it all clears up with the antibiotics and he doesnt have too much of a limp!!
Awww poor lad with a shaved leg, good to hear he`s home and is trying to use the leg again, hope the AB`s do their job and get rid of any nasties that may be in there or stop them coming back
He's chasing my little parrot around the floor now Back to his old self already it seems
I've just noticed you can see his poor swollen neck in those above pics!! Poor boy.
Oh, another bit of info. We are changing vets This is not the first time they have put our animals at risk and over the last few years they've cost us a considerable amount of money in mis-diagnosis!! Their advise to me Wednesday was to take him along to the appointment cos it had already been made (had no intention of not going!!!) but they said that they honestly didnyt think it was anything important and would have said to leave it and see how Beau got on As you can probably imagine, the infection would have killed him in quite a short time if it had been left to spread.. Not to mention the fact that they were happy for us to have left it til next Tuesday to go to the referral clinic as they said it wasnt an emergency, which the vet at the clinic said it very much was!! So going to be phoning around for new vets!
